Pottery for Kids (5-11 years) – 3 week course

Course Description

Children will learn basic hand-building techniques including coil, slab and pinch. They will create a number of motivating ceramic pieces including clay monsters or animals, face mug, pencil/phone holders. Children will also paint their pieces using coloured slips. Their work will be left to dry before being fired and given a clear glaze ready for collection a few weeks later.

These workshops are designed to give beginners a rounded experience of hand building techniques from preparing clay to understanding different techniques in creating pinch pots, coil work and slab building. Participants will also explore various surface decoration techniques and glazing for their ceramic pieces. No previous experience is needed.
