Event Details

The location of this session will be updated here closer to the time and will be emailed to participants in advance. All classes will take place in areas around Leigh-on-Sea. These classes are weather dependant and likely will not run if it is raining. You will be contacted if this is the case. Children are welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult. Please meet 5 minutes before the session begins.

Experiment with, and enjoy painting with the guidance of tutor Sharon in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Whilst the weather is nice, leave the four walls of the studio behind and experience painting in the landscape.

  • Paint in the open air using a variety of media; acrylic, watercolour, oil and mixed media.
  • Explore, learn and improve your use of composition, colour, tonality and texture.
  • Be introduced to, and reference masters like Turner, the Impressionists, post-impressionists and more contemporary artists.

Suitable for all abilities, from the new student to the practising artist, all are welcome. Enter an environment where you can experience painting for the first time or develop skills you may already have learnt.

Sharon Henson

Graduating with a first class BA Hons degree in graphic design from St Martins School of Art I had a successful design career for 15 years. After having my children I found myself being drawn back to painting. Then followed a career change to decorating and teaching art. I try and find as much time to paint, in oil and acrylic, especially en plein air – my passion. Hot, cold, rain or shine you are continually challenged to interpret the scene before you, to capture ‘a sense of place’ – the mood and the changing light. As a member of Leigh Art Trail I enjoy exhibiting locally as a home venue and meeting enthusiastic 'trailers'. Also a member of Southend Art Club I enjoy exhibiting in their regular shows. My work has been accepted and exhibited in the Essex Open.
